Total: 128

A total of 44 semester hours of general studies is required for all Appalachian State University degree candidates. Additionally, all degree candidates seeking licensure as teachers complete 24 semester hours that include: (a) CI/SPE 2800 Teachers, Schools, and Learners; (b) PSY 3000 Educational Psychology; (c) CI 3850 Literacy, Technology, and Instruction; (d) FDN 3800 Foundations of American Education; and, (e) CI 4900 Student Teaching.

20/20 Community Service Requirement

In addition to classwork, the Reich College of Education's Elementary Education program requires that students complete forty hours of service learning/community service activities as part of the curriculum designed to prepare future teachers.
